Job Description/Duties:
A Certified Dental Assistant provides an invaluable health care service, representing the gateway to oral health in the practice. This individual must demonstrate flexibility, strong communication and clinical skills to achieve optimal results and exceed patient expectations at each visit. Whether working in the mouth or by the side of the Orthodontist, these individuals must make the patients feel safe, comfortable, and pleased about their orthodontic treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greet patients and families in the patient area.
• Bring patients in for their visit in an enthusiastic way, building a personal connection at every visit.
• Evaluate oral hygiene and cooperation of each patient.
• Take necessary dental radiographs, using proper protective gear.
• Take impressions for study models and appliances.
• Take digital scans (where applicable).
• Prepare teeth for bonding and assist the Orthodontist while bonding.
• Perform all responsibilities allowed and delegated to the Assistant or Hygienist as prescribed by the Orthodontist and patient treatment plan.
• Prepare and maintain all dental instruments, supplies and equipment.
• Perform all lab duties/requirements as instructed by the Office Manager or Orthodontist.
• Provide patient education – encourage, educate and motivate patients to follow the doctors' recommendations.
• Educate parents and patients on treatment progress.
• Update the doctor on the patient treatment progress regularly.
• Perform Care Calls when required.
• Maintain a clean and sterile clinical area.
• Organize, clean and stock work areas as necessary.
• Be an active participant in all staff meetings.
• Complete clinical checklist daily.
• Complete all weekly and monthly spreadsheets (ie. Debond report).
• Prepare inventory counts and provide ordering needs on a quarterly basis to Clinical Lead or Office Manager.
• Introduce Smile Rewards and allot points to patients.
• Attend events, meetings and/or sponsorship events.
• Advise and inform patients of current contests and other marketing objectives.
• Travel to satellite locations when necessary.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work cohesively with fellow team members to provide an atmosphere of trust, respect and cooperation.
• Perform any other tasks delegated or assigned by the Clinical Lead or Office Manager.
