Job Title: Tug and Barge Captain (Seasonal) Minto Mine Site Yukon Territory

Position Summary:
Working on the Yukon River the incumbent will be responsible for Navigating the Copper Queen to transport goods and passengers across the River in and out of the Minto Mine. The Captain will assume responsibility for all under his or her care and ensure that safety and environmental standards are held to the highest level.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Awareness of and compliance to the Company's Performance Management Standards
· Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to, be aware of and sponsor the Company's safety and environmental rules and procedures. Ensure accountability of Company's Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability policies.
· Safeguard the lives of passengers and crew.
· Work safely always, ensuring compliance with Yukon Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
· Be familiar with the operations and deployment of life rafts, life boat and shore rescue boat.
· Aiding vessels or persons in distress.
· Ensure that the tug, barge and its operation are following all Transport Canada Regulations.
· Observation of international, national and local laws and rules.
· Logbook entries of all important events affecting the vessel.
· Supplement general operational guidelines as appropriate.
· Maintain ship's publications, documents, crew certification, and other relevant paperwork.
· Operational tests of shipboard navigational equipment.
· Practise and promote company policies and procedures.
· Respect the terms of the SFN land use Permit.
· Oversee all work performed on board, to ensure the tug and barge is well maintained, clean and tidy.
· Foster and maintain a team approach to meet objectives.
· Provide meaningful direction, guidance and supervision of crew.
· Participate in assessment of potential crew.
· Promote teamwork, cross cultural relationships and understanding.

Positions requirements:
· Ensure all relevant personal certificates are current, including a marine medical certificate.
· Maintain a valid driver's license always.
· Must possess Transport Canada Certificate of Competency as a Master - Limited 60 gross tonnage or higher.
· At least five years' experience in tug and barge operations on a river .

Working Conditions:
This position involves working at a remote mine site on a two week on/two week off rotation. The position is a fixed employment term (seasonal) that runs from Early June until Late October, early November, and entirely dependant upon the Yukon River ice conditions. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
