Job Title: "Temporary" Metallurgical Technician - Minto Mine Site Yukon Territory
Position Summary: This position is responsible for carrying out engineering assignments relating to process control, process optimization, environment or quality assurance, requiring a wide range of technical skills and specialized knowledge. Assignments involve assisting engineers on larger, complex assignments or working independently on smaller and less complex assignments. This position will be on a 2 week in 2 weeks out rotation, for a three (3) month work term. This position reports to the Metallurgist.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
• Manage supply inventories in the metallurgical laboratory. This includes ensuring that MSDS's are up to date.
• Manage records for the Knelson concentrator.
• Support operations in the maintenance and record keeping for the Knelson concentrator.
• Flowability tests (TML) on shipped concentrate.
• Conduct lab flotation tests.
• Manage the Thermo Fisher on-stream analyzer (OSA) units. This includes basic maintenance, calibration samples, regression graphs, and data management.
• Assist with optimization projects for the mill.
• Conduct data entry and analysis for daily/weekly/monthly production.
• Sample collection, crushing, grinding and flotation surveys.
• Be a key team member in the preparation for strategic projects.
• Awareness of and compliance to the Company's Performance Management Standards.
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to, be aware of and sponsor the Company's safety and environmental rules and procedures. Ensure accountability of Company's Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability policies.
• Create, update and manage laboratory SOP, JHA, SWP, and SJP (safe work procedures) and conduct workplace inspections.
• Assist with mill inspections (SAG, BM, and flotation cells).
• Daily circuit walk-through and checks.
• Daily reagent checks. QC on reagent quality and distribution system (pumps and lines).
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

The Ideal Candidate:
Academic/Education Requirements:
• 2-year technology diploma in metallurgy, mineral processing, or chemical and environmental technology
• Or equivalent of 4 years of metallurgical experience in a metallurgy lab or testing facility

Required Skills/Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience, preferably in an operational mine is considered an asset.
• Experience with surveying flotation and grinding circuits an asset.
• Experience with conducting lab flotation test work an asset (locked cycle, reagent dosage determination, etc.).
• Experience with Thermo Fisher OSA is an asset.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office – particularly Excel.
• Good understanding of laboratory methods and techniques for mineral processing test work.
• Experience having worked in a mineral processing plant an asset (as an operator).
• Some knowledge and experience with designing experiments and plant trials.
• Effective communication. Both verbally and in writing. Will be required to write summaries, reports, memos and emails.
• Prior involvement / facilitation of pilot plants considered an asset.
• Motivated to learn and try new methods and assist operations with their daily issues
• Resourceful and able to tap into external resources to find solutions for complicated issues.
• Maintain Driver's License

Working Conditions:
This position involves working at a remote mine site on a two week on/two week off rotation. Prolonged periods of time at a desk working at a computer may be required. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
