Job Title: Auxiliary Carpenter/ Maintenance CLOSING DATE: Until Filled
DEPARTMENT: Infrastructure
STATUS: Aux – on call
SALARY: C/TFN Wage Scale Level 4-9 depending on education and experience

Under the direct supervision of the Carpentry Foreman, the Carpenter is responsible for a wide variety of carpentry and related maintenance functions for the Carcross / Tagish First Nation (C/TFN) and for integrating the four elements of the Values and Virtues of Life (mental, emotional, spiritual and physical) into the work. The carpenter will, where applicable, ensure that the work reflect life's four stages - child, youth, adult and elder. The carpenter must be willing to change with the ongoing evolution of C/TFN circle governance

• Journeyman Carpenter certification / Registered Carpenter Apprentice desired
• 5 Years work experience in carpentry and related field
• Knowledge of National Building code
• Knowledge of safety Regulations
• General knowledge of the practices of other trades such as plumbing, electrical and painting
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to understand blueprint and related drawings

• Valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers
• Responsible for getting self to and from work
• Must have own basic hand tools (pouch, hammer, utility knife, square ext.)
• Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds as well as bend, reach, and lift;
• Must be able to work in cold (outside or unheated premises) or damp locations;
• Must work in area where there is dust, dirt or on occasion, unpleasant fumes;
• May experience stress, meeting deadlines and handling heavy workloads
• Dealing with constant interruptions and high levels of regular/irregular critical deadlines
• May include working extended work hours
• Able to work in crawlspaces and attic spaces

An Auxiliary list will be established from this competition. No compensation will be given for moving costs and must be eligible to work in Canada.
