Job Description/Duties:
• The Shop Manager, under the direction of the Manager of Career Industries, will primarily be responsible for safe and efficient day-to-day production of the Manufacturing Plant. This role will be responsible for motivating, coaching and training employees, many of which live with varying forms of disability. This position will ensure all employees are performing duties in compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. The Shop Manager must have a minimum of 2 years carpentry experience and/or certificate or diploma in a related field, and should have a sensitivity or understanding towards persons with special needs.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• First Aid and CPR/AED
• Ability to assist with administrative duties, such as invoicing, making business related calls, staff records and statistics, record keeping, and professional customer services
• Second- or third-year carpentry skills or the equivalent in work experience
• Three years of experience in a management role in the carpentry, construction, factory, or similar setting
• Experience working with persons with disabilities
• Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees
• Clean RCMP vulnerable sector check
• Clean Driver Abstract (insurable)
• Position-relevant bonding and certifications
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
• Ability to manage coordination efforts in construction projects with various parties, such as, Various trades people and landscaping installers
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
• Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
