Position: School Age Career Development Facilitator
Department: Education and Social Development
Term: Full Time; Term till March 31, 2022
Start: ASAP

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a School Age Career Development Facilitator to join their team. Reporting to the Manager of School Age Education, this position supports KDFN school age students up to 21 years of age achieve the knowledge, skills and self-awareness to set the path for their journey to finding a fulfilling career. The incumbent will work with school age students, their parents/guardians, supports and advocates, school and community resources to enhance career readiness for students. This will be done through the development, growth and management of individualized growth and development plans designed to guide the way for the attainment of career aspirations. Working closely with students in high school who are transitioning into post-secondary or employment will be a large component of the role.

A demonstrated commitment to a client-centered approach, through wrap-around services, collaboration and teamwork, for the benefit of all KDFN citizens, is central to quality service deliver and to the establishment and implementation of Departmental mandates.

· Post-secondary education in job coaching, life skills programming, social work, education or related and experience related to career and life planning activities;
· Knowledge of and experience with a variety of strategies, including technology, to support learning;
· Experience advocating and supporting school age students;
· Knowledge of and experience with case management;
· Experience in planning and coordinating events;
· Knowledge of Truth & Reconciliation as it related to education and employment;
· Knowledge of and experience with Yukon First Nation ways of knowing and doing, including land-based learning, our language(s)
· Knowledge of Yukon public school education system, community based educational and indigenous service providers in Yukon.

Strong knowledge of Yukon Aboriginal Peoples history with formalized education systems, residential school and on-going inter-generational effects specific to education, employment and social programming and familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, demographics, goals and aspirations is required for success in this position.

Salary: $33.69 per hour - $44.19 per hour – Level 5*
