Salary: Level 9 Step 1 ($92,524.33 annual)

The Policy Advisor is responsible for providing evidenced-based research, writing reports, and other correspondence, analyzing and providing technical advice on policies, legislation and strategies, and negotiating on the behalf of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in at intergovernmental engagements on a wide range of environmental, fish and wildlife, and Implementation matters, and protecting the inherent Aboriginal treaty rights of citizens.

Essential Qualifications:
· An advanced post-secondary degree (Masters of PhD) in a relevant field (law, geography, environmental studies,
engineering, science). An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
· Experience working on land and resources and/or fish and wild-life projects.
· Experience leading policy, legislation and/or research projects.
· Experience participating in intergovernmental or cross agency engagements and working groups.
· Experience in stakeholder management, dispute resolution and negotiations.
· Good research, analysis, and/or project management skills.
· Strong understanding of how First Nation, Territorial, and Federal Governments operate.
· Knowledge of the values, traditions and culture of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in.
· Excellent communication skills (writing, visual, oral) including presentations.

Assets:
· Finance / budgeting skills.
· Planning, organizing, goal setting and work-plans.
· Proposal writing.
· Leadership and decision-making skills.
· Proven ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and within a team.
· Ability to travel, as necessary.
· Formal knowledge/experience working within First Nation governance structures and processes.

Conditions of Employment:
· Criminal Record Check.
· Class 4 Drivers License and Drivers Abstract.
· Attendance at General Assemblies, and Community Meetings as required.
· Willingness to travel as required.
· Possess or willingness to obtain: Class 4 Driver's License, First Aid / CPR Certificate and Wilderness First Aid;
Firearm Safety Certificate and Possession Acquisition Certificate, Marine Pleasure Craft Operators License, ATV Safety and
GPS.
