Position: Elder in Residence

Term: Permanent, Full Time (M-F, 7hr/day)

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking an Elder in Residence to join their team; someone who is wanting full-time work in a position that has the potential to make a very positive influence on the community and its' members. Reporting to the Manager, Spiritual & Mental Wellness, the Elder in Residence will primarily be responsible for supporting KDFN citizens in need of spiritual and emotional support as well as access to cultural activities and traditional knowledge. This team member will also be responsible for supporting the KDFN community during times of crisis and assisting staff of the Natsékhi Ku ? Health Centre by offering integrating traditional activities and knowledge into pre-existing programming as directed.

This Elder must have excellent interpersonal skills with experience working with those of all ages and backgrounds. They must be respectful, diplomatic, patient and have the ability to relate to others. Organization and time management skills will be important for success in the role. There must be a comfort level working with people who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs when safe to do so and the ability to engage and work with people from different walks of life or from different communities/backgrounds.


• Must be a KDFN Elder or considered an Elder in their own community;
• First hand/lived experience of KDFN traditional knowledge;
• Previous experience leading cultural activities for small and large groups;
• Basic understanding of computers (i.e. e-mail, word) and general office equipment;

Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation community, family groups, dynamics, traditions, values, goals and aspirations are required for success in this opportunity.

Conditions of Employment: Valid class 5 drivers' license with an acceptable Driver's Abstract; Current First Aid CPR Level C; Food Safe Level 1; Satisfactory pre-employment criminal records check

Salary: $61,315.80 - $78,840.33 per annum (Level 5)
