Position: Licensed Practical Nurse
Program: Home and Community Care
Department: Health
Term: One Year Term, Full Time

Reporting to the Manager of Home and Community Care (HCC), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide a full range of community based nursing in the Kwanlin Dün First Nation HCC Program. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Elder Support Worker and the HCC Registered Nurse, as well as with various resource persons within and outside of the community.

We are looking for someone with excellent team work abilities, time management and coordination abilities who is reliable and punctual. You will also have solid communication skills, and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle.

· Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma;
· Must hold a current license with Professional Licensing and Regulatory Affairs;
· Must have Medication Administration certification;
· A minimum of one year experience providing LPN care, preferably in a First Nations setting;
· Ability to work in a team environment;
· Ability to schedule appointments and prioritize duties in a timely manner;
· Advanced Foot Care certification is an asset;
· Phlebotomy certification is an asset;
· Knowledge of the socioeconomic history of the Yukon First Nations/importance of spiritual beliefs and traditional healing practices.

For success in the role one must have an in-depth knowledge of aboriginal health and social issues, have knowledge of Federal & Territorial Government regulatory requirements and knowledge of Yukon First Nation history, culture, demographics, goals & aspirations.

Conditions of Employment: valid Class 4 Driver's license or willingness to obtain within three months; access to reliable transportation; maintain a clean driver's abstract; TB Test; First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire); Food Safe – Level 1; Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance; Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 3 months); Immunization record; Doctor's Note stating "fit for work;" advanced Foot Care certification and Phlebotomy certification to be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Job Requirements: physical ability to sit, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds; assist clients with mobility challenges; ongoing ability to demonstrate and maintain a healthy life style.
