Salary: Level 7 Step 1 ($2,818.16 bi-weekly)

Under the direction of the Family Services Worker, the In-Home Family Worker is responsible for providing in-home & community support services in various formats to high risk families and citizens, in particular those who are survivors of residential schools and / or have suffered the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. The In-Home Family Worker will assist families in Dawson & surrounding area to ensure the safeguarding of children, prevent breakdown of family units and coordinate resources and services to the children and their families. The role will work in coordination with TH to develop child welfare jurisdiction and engage with Yukon Government Health and Social Services when necessary to ensure that the delivery and administration of child welfare services are inclusive and keep TH children safe, as well as connected to their families, communities, and culture.

Essential Qualifications:
· Grade 12, with a BSW diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology or other related fields; an equivalent combination of education, training, skills and experience in this field may be considered;
· Addictions counseling, conflict resolution and crisis intervention;
· Program delivery and providing support services to clients; including parent education, mediation and life skills management;
· Community agencies and resources available to utilize in case management, planning and referrals;
· Knowledge of residential schools and the intergenerational impact on individuals, families, children and communities which may include family violence, substance abuse, physical and sexual abuse by others, loss of parenting skills and self-harm / destructive behaviors;
· Alcohol and drug abuse / family violence / sexual abuse / child abuse, neglect and effects of FASD;
· Knowledge of, or willing to learn, Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in government structure, culture, traditions, history, demographics, family structures, socio-economic dynamics, challenges and aspirations, basic phrases of the Hän language, as well as the intergenerational impacts of residential schools on individuals, families and communities.

Assets:
· Experience writing grant /funding proposals;
· Knowledge or experience in formal family justice and child welfare systems, including relevant legislation.

Conditions of Employment:
· Mandatory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector screening prior to starting this position;
· Class 5 driver's license with a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to get a Class 4 license;
· Ability to work a flexible work schedule when required;
· Comply with TH Policies and Procedures;
· Standard First Aid / CPR, Wilderness First Aid, or willingness to obtain;
· Willingness to take training / courses to further enhance skills as needed;
