Term: 1 year part time term (.60)

Start: August 1, 2018

Note: Start date in the term is August 1, 2018; we would be able to employ the successful candidate as auxiliary on call prior to the start date if preferable.

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a part time Registered Nurse in the areas of clinical nursing and outreach. Reporting to the Manager, Outreach & Health Promotion, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing public health services and community based nursing for the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. The incumbents will work closely with other community resources in the provision and coordination of programs and services to children, individuals and families.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to establish & maintain trust based relationships & demonstrate high professional ethics. You will be willing to learn and work within the social structure in Kwanlin Dün, their families, the social conditions, and social dynamics prevailing in the community and greater Whitehorse community.

· Registered Nurse Diploma or Degree and current registration in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA);
· Recently applied knowledge of theory, practice and techniques of a registered nurse, acquired through current work experience with children, individuals and/or families, vulnerable populations and elders;
· Experience in community based and community health nursing would be an asset;
· Knowledge of the socioeconomic history of the Yukon First Nations/importance of spiritual beliefs and traditional healing practices;

For success in the role one must have an in-depth knowledge of aboriginal health and social issues, have knowledge of Federal & Territorial Government regulatory requirements and sponsorships and, knowledge of Yukon First Nation history, culture, demographics, goals & aspirations.

Conditions of Employment: valid Class 5 Driver's license (class 4 is an asset); Clean driving record; TDG Certification, Yukon Certificate Immunization Competency; immunizations and current TB Clearance; Security Clearance with vulnerable sector completion; First Aid & CPR; YRNA Registration.

Job Requirements: travel within Whitehorse city limits; exposure to second hand smoke, pets and home visits may be required.

Salary: $44,455 to $55,670 per annum based .60 FTE, (42 hours biweekly) plus benefits (Level 7)
