This senior-level professional work requires the application of specialized knowledge in the areas of dynamics of victimization, community organization and development, and corrections. The Justice Coordinator shall work to restore crime victims, promote safe and secure communities, supervise and rehabilitate offenders and all other justice matters. The work is performed within the framework of community/balanced and restorative justice, that is, addressing needs of offenders and their families within the three primary areas of accountability, competency development, and public safety. The position provides a point of reference and referral for Justice related inquiries from the community; assists with Justice related activities as required by the community; supervises, supports, and facilitates offenders completion of conference agreements; informs victims on an ongoing basis as to the status of conference agreements; provides mentorship to local youth through involvement in restorative youth programming in the community; assists in the establishment of restorative youth programming opportunities within the community including, but not limited to, on the land camps.

Essentials:
· Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, criminology, corrections, or psychology;
· Minimum 2 years of experience in delivering crime counseling services to victim, offender, family & community;
· Demonstrated ability to apply extensive knowledge of Canadian, Territorial and local laws and regulations that may apply to situations involving offenders and their families;
· Knowledge of community justice approaches including circles (healing, diversion and sentencing) and other alternative dispute resolution processes (conferencing and mediation);
· Problem solving skills; Conflict resolution and mediation skills;
· Demonstrated administrative experience in research, accurate report writing, maintenance of confidential documentation and discussion facilitation;
· Ability to gain trust, cooperation and maintain credibility in the community.

Assets:
· Knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in cultural values and community and family structures;
· A thorough understanding of the dynamics of victimization and the ability to communicate empathetically with crime victims;
· Experience in the application of community justice approaches and other alternative dispute resolution processes;
· Demonstrated ability to motivate others and conduct motivational interviewing;
· Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of professionals.


Conditions of Employment:
· Mandatory confidentiality is a condition of employment for all Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in personnel. Failure to meet this requirement could result in dismissal;
· Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check;
· Willingness to be flexible with respect to hours of work;
· Valid Class 5 Yukon Driver's License and clear Driver's abstract;
· Standard First Aid with CPR.
