Education Manager – Permanent Full Time (Immediately)

Salary: Level 9 Step 1 -3 Range ($89,724 – $98,697) depending on experience

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, Education and Training, this position is responsible for managing the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in (TH) Kindergarten to Grade 12 education programs and services by engaging with the Federal and Territorial Education Departments and ensuring TH representation in Robert Service School through the Community Education Liaison Coordinators (CELCs) and Education Support Worker. The position will also be responsible for assisting in the development of negotiation strategies relevant to Section 17 of the TH Self Government Agreement (THSGA), providing advice and recommendations to the Education Committee and TH School Council Representatives (THSCR), as well as assisting in developing and providing recommendations regarding all education policy requirements. The position will be required to assist in providing reports and recommendations on Education related issues to the Director of Human Resources, Education and Training and the Education Committee.

Essential Qualifications:
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Education related discipline or minimum two years work related experience in education related field combined with some related course work. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
· Knowledge and experience working with other governments with respect to education programming and funding agencies;
· Knowledge and understanding of TH history, culture and traditions;
· Relevant experience in research and analysis;
· Relevant experience in program planning and development;
· Relevant experience in conflict resolution;
· Knowledge and understanding of the THSGA, TH Final Agreement and TH Implementation Plans;
· Relevant experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

· Strong knowledge of curriculum and program planning practices and procedures;
· Strong knowledge of management theory, principles and practices;
· Ability to develop and deliver educational programs and services;
· Strong organizational and time management skills;
· Strong conflict management and dispute resolution abilities;
· Ability to manage financial, material and human resources;
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
· Ability to gain the trust and cooperation of others in resolving problems and addressing concerns;
· Ability to interact effectively with committees, parents, children, and faculty, demonstrating tact and diplomacy with all interactions.
