Heritage Interpreter Student Trainee X 2 - Term

Salary: $15.50 per hour.

The incumbent will serve as student ambassador of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in. The incumbent will assist by providing support for cultural programs, activities, tours and events at Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre. The incumbent will present a positive impression of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in and an understanding of our community and culture. The incumbent may have other related duties which may include operation of cash register and assisting at Heritage Sites.

Essential Qualifications:
· TH Youth in school or recently graduated. Grade 9 -12.
· TH Youth age 15-19

Skill to be gained:
· The ability to be open, friendly and responsive with TH citizens and guests;
· The ability to plan and anticipate events needs and activities;
· Better understanding of TH heritage and skills to formulate a body of knowledge Develop new or enriched understanding of cultural heritage;
· Develop skills to provide service and assistance to the public with and without guidance;
· Ability to plan and participate in the creative process. Ability to share creativity with others;
· Ability to recognize maintenance issues and undertaking the opportunities to ensure a professional presentation and appearance of the DZCC. Ability to follow through with completion of tasks;
· Public speaking skills, team work and cooperation. Ability to communicate clearly and share ideas and interests.

Assets:
· Knowledge of TH culture, history, language and traditions;
· Interpersonal and public-speaking skills ;
· Cash-handling skills and sales experience;
· Participation in events, camps and cultural activities;
· Experience participating on a team;
· Engaged in cultural pursuits.

Conditions of Employment:
